Saratoga Hospital Gala Raises $298,000 for Community Health Center

Saratoga Hospital’s 32nd annual Summer Gala raised $298,000 for Saratoga Community Health Center, a hospital-owned facility that provides primary care, dental and behavioral health services for patients regardless of their ability to pay.

More than 900 turned out Wednesday for the gala, which was billed as a “Mad Tea Party.” The annual event is a highlight of the Saratoga summer season and the Capital Region’s largest charitable auction. It also is a major source of support for the Community Health Center, which is the only facility of its kind in the greater Saratoga region.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude after last night’s gala and the incredible show of support for the hospital’s Community Health Center,” Gala Co-Chair Robin Dalton said. “It was a fabulous evening and could not have happened without the help of our fantastic volunteers, Gala Committee and Saratoga Hospital Foundation staff.”

Saratoga Hospital opened the Community Health Center last September to meet the routine healthcare needs of the region’s underinsured. Since then, more than 2,650 patients have made over 6,727 visits to the center. Many had not seen a primary care provider or dentist in years.

“The staff and patients at Saratoga Community Health Center extend our heartfelt thanks to every gala guest, donor, underwriter, and volunteer for supporting our mission of delivering quality care to everyone in need,” said Dr. Renee Rodriguez-Goodemote, medical director, Saratoga Community Health Center. “Your generosity has helped open the door to opportunities for improved health and a better way of living.”

The Summer Gala historically has been the hospital’s largest annual fundraising event and, over the years, has supported a variety of critical capital projects. More recently, in keeping with its long-term commitment to Community Health Center patients, Saratoga Hospital decided to harness the gala’s fundraising power to support the center.

Each year, more than 100 volunteers help organize and staff the event, which is run by Saratoga Hospital Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Saratoga Hospital. More than 320 individuals and organizations donate auction items and provide underwriting support.

“The Community Health Center is such an important resource for individuals and families in need of health and dental services—and guests, donors and volunteers respond accordingly,” Gala Co-Chair Chelsea Silver said. “It’s a privilege not just to be involved in this event but also to be part of such a caring community.”
