Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (ages 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addiction challenge, or is in crisis.
The course is designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. We will introduce common mental health challenges for youth, review typical adolescent development, and teach a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur (including ADHD), and eating disorders.
This course is co-sponsored by SCCCMH, Saratoga County Mental Health Services, and Saratoga Hospital.
Space is very limited, so registration is required. Please call 518-580-2450 or
