The Marylou Whitney and Desmond DelGiacco, MD, Intensive Care Unit at Saratoga Hospital opened in May 2015. The state-of-the-art facility combines the latest technology and a patient-focused environment. Each of the 19 private rooms is outfitted with advanced equipment, including in-room dialysis and the region’s most sophisticated patient monitoring system. Each room also has ample space for family and other loved ones, and includes windows and other features that promote healing.
Special Features of the ICU
- Electronic glass that becomes opaque (for privacy) or translucent with the flip of a switch for windows and doors to maintain line-of-sight, a critical tool in patient surveillance and safety
- Strategically positioned nursing workstations, including mini stations to enable nurses to remain bedside providing close surveillance for two patients at a time
- Hands-free, wireless communications so nurses can easily call an individual or entire team without turning their back on a patient
