  Breast Health Symposium

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, October 23, 2017—Saratoga Hospital will share the latest advances in breast cancer detection and treatment during the 13th annual Breast Health Symposium, which will be held Nov. 4, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Gideon Putnam Hotel.

The theme for this year’s symposium is “Navigating Your Personal Journey,” which focuses on how the breast care team at Saratoga Hospital works collaboratively to ensure every patient has the medical and emotional support they need throughout their care.

“One of the most demanding challenges confronting a breast patient is navigating through the health care system,” said Dr. Patricia Rae Kennedy, breast surgeon and clinical director of the Saratoga Hospital Center for Breast Care. “It can be daunting, and we want to help. That’s why we have built a team with our nurse navigators at its core to guide and support our patients, to be our patient’s advocates. We’ll be sharing more about our nurses and patient navigation at this year’s symposium.”

In keeping with the center’s commitment to collaboration, the symposium will include presentations featuring health professionals from across the care continuum at Saratoga Hospital:

  • Dr. Joseph Bell, surgeon, president of Saratoga Hospital Medical Group
  • Dr. Philip Fear, radiologist, president of Millennium Medical Imaging
  • Dr. Patricia Rae Kennedy, breast surgeon, clinical director of Saratoga Hospital Center for Breast Care
  • Dr. Edward Liebers, oncologist, Saratoga Hospital Medical Group Oncology
  • Julia Wick, LCMHC, presenting “How to Live Well Each Day With Cancer”

The symposium is not just for those who have been personally touched by cancer. In fact, a major goal is to spread the word about the importance of early detection.

The Breast Health Symposium is free and includes a complimentary breakfast, plus local exhibitors from various community resources. Seating is limited; registration is required. To register or for more information, call 518-580-2450.
