Rheumatology is the treatment of diseases of the joints, muscles, and bones — arthritis, certain autoimmune diseases, osteoporosis, and musculoskeletal conditions. Since many of these diseases are chronic, a rheumatologist often is part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Together, team members work with patients to develop customized, long-term plans to help them manage and cope with their conditions.
Rheumatologists diagnose and treat a variety of conditions.
