Saratoga Hospital Adds Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services

Janice Prichett tapped to fill new position

Janice PrichettSARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, February 28, 2019—Veteran behavioral health leader Janice Prichett has joined Saratoga Hospital to fill the new position of executive director of behavioral health services.

Prichett is responsible for administering and integrating behavioral health services across the Saratoga Hospital system of care. She also collaborates with senior team members; Dr. Russell Loeber, chair of the Saratoga Hospital Department of Psychiatry; and an advisory board of physicians and leadership to develop behavioral health programs.

The new position is the latest example of the hospital’s commitment to meet the region’s growing need for behavioral health services. A key strategy is to integrate these services into the hospital’s primary care practices—a model introduced in 2013 with the opening of Saratoga Community Health Center. Services at that location have continued to expand and now include addiction medicine.

Saratoga Hospital also provides inpatient behavioral health services in its mental health unit and supplies the psychiatrists who provide outpatient care at Saratoga County Mental Health Center.

“Adding services is essential. But it’s just as important to integrate those services across the organization so they are readily accessible to our patients,” said Dr. Richard Falivena, vice president and chief medical and physician integration officer at Saratoga Hospital. “With her administrative and clinical experience, Janice is an ideal choice to lead this effort.”

A licensed clinical social worker, Prichett has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience in behavioral health administration, integration and program development. Most recently, she was chief behavioral health officer for Whitney Young Health in Albany.

Prichett has a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York Institute of Technology and a Master of Social Work from the State University of New York at Albany. She is a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club, The Adirondack 46ers and the Albany County Opioid Task Force.
