Saratoga Hospital Names New Associate Vice President for Quality and Performance Improvement

Meredith Borak tapped for experience overseeing risk management, 
quality, safety and compliance efforts

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., Aug. 17, 2021—Saratoga Hospital has named Meredith Borak as associate vice president for quality and performance improvement. 

Borak comes to Saratoga Hospital from University of Chicago Medicine at Ingalls Memorial Hospital, where she was the director of clinical excellence, responsible for risk management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance and infection prevention. MEredith Borak

We were seeking a leader with an impressive record of continually reducing risk and improving patient outcomes, and we found that in Dr. Borak,” said Dr. Richard Falivena, vice president and chief medical and physician integration officer at Saratoga Hospital.

Borak has 11 years of nursing management experience in positions of increasing responsibility at University of Chicago Medicine. Before that, she worked as a medical-surgical and critical care nurse. Borak also served as a medical specialist in the U.S. Army in military health clinics, ambulance support battalions and field hospitals in South Korea, Egypt, Louisiana and Alaska.

She earned a doctorate in nursing practice, with a focus on outcomes performance management, from Loyola University Chicago. Borak also holds a master’s degree in nursing administration from Governors State University in Illinois and a bachelor’s in nursing from Illinois State University. She is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety. 

Borak is a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, National Association of Healthcare Quality, American Heart Association, American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, American Society of Professionals in Patient Safety, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing- Alpha Beta Chapter. She is a frequent presenter on innovations that can help ensure timely care, reduce patient risk and improve outcomes.
