Saratoga Hospital to Host Free Breast Health Symposium Nov. 12

Event focuses on advances, care continuum and new Center for Breast Care

breast-healthSaratoga Hospital to Host Free Breast Health Symposium on November 12—Saratoga Hospital will share the latest advances in breast cancer detection and treatment during the 12th annual Breast Health Symposium, which will be held November 12, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Gideon Putnam Hotel.

The symposium will also introduce the new Saratoga Hospital Center for Breast Care and its emphasis on patient-centered care across the continuum—from diagnosis through survivorship. The center, which is located on the hospital’s Wilton campus, opened earlier this year.

In keeping with the center’s integrated approach, the symposium will include presentations featuring health professionals from across the care continuum:

  • Joseph Bell, surgeon, president of Saratoga Hospital Medical Group
  • Philip Fear, radiologist, Millennium Medical Imaging
  • Patricia Rae Kennedy, breast surgeon, director of Saratoga Hospital Center for Breast Care
  • Geraldine Pfeiffer, physical therapist and certified lymphedema therapist, Saratoga Hospital-Regional Therapy Center
  • Pierre Zimmerman, Buddhist chaplain and workshop and retreat center manager, One Roof Holistic Health Center

“The symposium is a wonderful opportunity to hear firsthand about the progress we’ve made in detecting and treating breast cancer—and what that means for those in our community who face the challenges of a breast cancer diagnosis,” Dr. Kennedy said. “It’s also a great way to learn about the many resources available at Saratoga Hospital and throughout the community, and to connect with other cancer patients and survivors.”

The symposium is not limited to those who have been touched by cancer. In fact, a major goal is to spread the word about the importance of prevention and early detection.

The Breast Health Symposium is free and includes a complimentary breakfast. Seating is limited; registration is required. To register or for more information, call 518-580-2450 or go to http://saratogahospital.org/breast-health-symposium.
