ItrustSaratogaHospital.org website goes live

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, May 23, 2019—Saratoga Hospital has launched a new website—ItrustSaratogaHospital.org—to inform community members about plans to enhance patient care by developing a medical office center near the hospital. The site includes an online petition for people to voice support for the project.

“We’ve been hearing concerns from people throughout our community who are troubled that a group of neighbors could jeopardize a project that would benefit the entire region,” said Angelo Calbone, president and CEO of Saratoga Hospital. “We’ve also been receiving questions based on misleading claims made by the neighbors—and we want to set the record straight.

“The website is an opportunity for us to correct the mistruths and make sure the voices of the larger community are not being drowned out by a small group of vocal neighbors,” he added.

ItrustSaratogaHospital.org highlights the significant benefits of bringing specialists from Saratoga Hospital Medical Group from locations throughout the city to a central location near the hospital. These include:

  • Increased opportunity for collaboration and consultation. Patients who have cancer or other complex conditions often require care from multiple specialists. Patient care and outcomes tend to be better when physicians can easily collaborate.
  • Proximity to the hospital. Surgeons and other specialists who are sometimes called to the hospital for emergencies—when every second can make a difference—will be able to get there almost immediately.
  • Cost-savings. The Morgan Street location is the most cost-effective option. Every dollar saved can be better spent on patient care.

“Based on the input we’ve received, we believe the overwhelming majority of residents of Saratoga Springs support this project and its importance to the continued health of the region as a whole,” Calbone said. “Our community is growing, and we have a responsibility to grow with it.”

The ItrustSaratogaHospital.org website and Calbone also emphasize the hospital’s longstanding commitment to being a good neighbor.

The hospital has been located off Church Street since 1913 and has expanded significantly to bring advanced surgical, intensive care, cardiac, emergency medicine and cancer services to the community. With every major construction project, the hospital has worked closely with neighbors and the city to minimize disruption, add landscaping and other buffers, and address other concerns.
