Saratoga Hospital Midwife Named Duke-Johnson & Johnson Fellow
Jennifer Kittell selected for national nurse leadership program
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, April 5, 2019—Certified Nurse Midwife Jennifer Kittell, of Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Midwifery and Women’s Health Services, has been named a fellow for the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership Program.
A partnership between Duke University School of Nursing and Johnson & Johnson, the program provides leadership development for nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives, especially those who work in community practice settings.
Kittell is one of 41 nurses from across the U.S. who were selected for the 2019-20 program, which begins this month. Fellows will participate in three leadership retreats, monthly distance-based learning activities and a transformative health leadership project. A key objective is to equip fellows to provide more effective, efficient healthcare services to vulnerable populations and to lead innovative health improvement initiatives for their organizations and communities.
“With her empowering, patient-centered approach to care, Jenn is an excellent fit for this program,” said Dr. Richard Falivena, vice president and chief medical and physician integration officer at Saratoga Hospital. “She is constantly seeking new, better ways to serve her patients and collaborate with colleagues to enhance care in our community.”
Kittell has two decades of experience in women’s healthcare, including seven years as a certified nurse midwife. Her focus is on patient education and care, especially for women who otherwise would be underserved or underrepresented.
She holds Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Michigan School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts degree, also from the University of Michigan.
Kittell is one of six certified nurse midwives and a nurse practitioner in practice with Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Midwifery and Women’s Health Services. The practice is located at Park Place at Wilton at 665 Saratoga Road (Route 9). To make an appointment call, 518-363-8815. For more information, go to www.saratogahospital.org.
