Our patients can be confident our knowledgeable Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Nephrology team is dedicated to helping your kidneys maintain their vital role in keeping your body functioning.
Nephrology focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions and diseases that affect kidney function. Since many of these are chronic, nephrologists also work with patients to help them manage their conditions and prevent them from progressing. Our skilled nephrologists treat a broad range of diseases and conditions, including electrolyte disorders, hematuria, hypertension, proteinuria, renal insufficiency and failure, kidney cancer diagnosis, kidney stones and urinary tract infection. They will also discuss nutrition and manage your treatment plan, whether it be hemodialysis at home or at a dialysis center, or peritoneal dialysis in our office.
Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Nephrology offers our patients an outstanding team of board-certified physicians, employing the most advanced diagnostic techniques to identify, develop a treatment plan, and manage kidney disease. Our team is committed to providing personalized, compassionate care, working closely with a patient’s primary care provider and other specialists as needed. Nutrition and support resources are an important part of kidney disease management, and our caring team will work with patients and their families to identify and help resolve transportation, financial, and other barriers to treatment.
“Every member of our team treats our patients with respect and compassion, which we feel is equally as important as the quality of their care. Chronic conditions, such as kidney disease, require a serious commitment from the patient to their own treatment plan, which is not easy, so we do our best to educate patients about all their options and help find ways to minimize barriers to care. We are in this together, every step of the way.”

Our nephrology team performs diagnostic testing, checking for renal insufficiency, creatinine levels, and other bloodwork or urine testing in order to provide the best treatment plan, including diet and nutrition.
Peritoneal dialysis is a treatment that cleans the blood of waste when the kidney is unable to perform that function. Rather than pumping the blood outside the body, as in hemodialysis, this treatment is internal, using the peritoneal lining of the abdomen as the cleansing filter. This can be done at home.
Our nephrologists treat and monitor your kidney function with examinations and follow-up lab work and care, making adjustments as needed to meet the unique needs of each patient. For example, we discuss nutrition, dietary supplements, provide an injectable medication to manage anemia.
For patients whose treatments are not at home, our physicians will meet them at their dialysis center to monitor their hemodialysis treatments and provide follow-up care.
Hemodialysis, often called dialysis, is a treatment using a special filter to perform the work of your kidneys, pumping small amounts of your blood at time through the filter to clear waste and extra fluids from your blood. Advancements in equipment and treatment allow this to be done at home. Our skilled nephrology team will train you and your care partner in the process, and the home dialysis nurse will visit your home to monitor progress. Follow up care will occur at the monthly home hemodialysis clinic.
